Voting Question: Will a 1/2 ton Tundra sufficiently pull a 5th Wheel?
Well, we're in the market for an RV. Don't know if we should receive a motorhome, a truck camper or a 5th Wheel. We probably would be towing a SEADOO for the grandkids. But our first concern is the truck for towing a 5th Wheel or for carrying a big camper. Although we are seniors on Social Security we figure it would be nice to look the USA while we have the health. If there's no money left over, well..........perhaps we could live in the RV. My husband and I thank every those who have answered

Resolved Question: Want to hire a camper van or car in America - help?
We're going to a couple of places around the US later this year and we were thinking of hiring a camper van for a week to go around Nevada-California. The problem is, we looked at some websites which add loads of costs onto the hire price including $200 to drop the van off somewhere other than your pick-up point. Is there any cheaper way of doing this, i.e. finding a private RV rental place or doing it on the day? Our other option is to hire a car - info please?! Websites, price of petrol etc? Thank you very much x

Resolved Question: Where is the best place to go camping in the Smoky Mountains?
We're interested in going camping sometime this summer up in the Smoky Mountains and we'd like to be somewhere close Pigeon Forge, TN. Where is the best place to go up there? We'd prefer it be on some nice of water and would rather it not be in a campground with RV's and stuff. Links to pictures of the location would also be great...thanks! Also any links to good websites that have camping locations and reviews would be helpful!

Voting Question: question about electricity requirements?
i need some help for those with an electrical background. I have several componets, and i'm wondering what the power requirement would be for a generator if i took them camping with me & my nephews: 1) sony str-dg1000 receiver 2) ps3 game system 3) xbox 360 game system 4) sega dreamcast game system 5) sony bravia 23" 6) microwave oven ideally, i would rent an r/v to use while camping, and only the tv, reciver, and one of the game systems would be on at any one time. reciver would be off when microwave is in use...(unless i receive an rv with built-in microwave). if anyone can help, please post, but allow emails to be sent in case i have additonal questions, or you need more information. any help is appreciated.

Voting Question: Teardrop trailer on a tent site?
Considering building a teardrop. I like tent camping myself but my camping partner has a rain omen as far as camping is concerned. (Rains, thunderstorms, torrential downpours, tornadoes when ever I camp with her (11 out of 14 times now)). So, thought about a tear drop. Do you know if most campgrounds generally let you put teardrops on tent sites because they are so tiny? I like seclusion, not being parked in an open lot with a bunch of RV's I know I could call each campground individually but we just like to pack and go and don't always know where we will end up. Thanks! :)

Resolved Question: Any reccomendations on bathroom/kitchen cleaners that are safe in RVs/Campers?
We recently bought a camper, and I want to clean the sinks, bathtub/shower, and toilet....however, I'm afraid that harsh chemicals may damage the system. I also don't want to go to the RV/Camper supply store and spend an absolute fortune on cleaners that they offer. Would the new "green" cleaners from Clorox be safe enough?

Resolved Question: Looking for a great camping site near Portland/Old Orchard Beach in Maine, know any?
My friends and I want to go camping, but we want the whole rustic outside, campfires, away from it every experience. We don't want to camp anywhere where there are RVs or a lot of stupid rules that take the fun away from the whole camping experience. We are looking for something fun and affordable but secluded that is close Portland, Maine. There are places like Powder Horn, but those are mostly for RV's and like I mentioned before we want to go away from that. We just want to go camping in our tents in the wilderness, go fishing, maybe a swim, hike some trails and have a fun campfire cooking fish and smores while drinking some icy beers. Let me know if you can find a great spot like that! Thanks!!

Resolved Question: Is there any beach in North Florida or Alabama where you can camp in tents?
I've been checking around for primitive camping sites in the Northern Florida Panhandle and Gulf Shores, Alabama where the tents can be set up on the beach instead of nearby areas. It seems that most camping areas are now set as RV parks and tent camping always seems to be delegated to remote locations away from the beach. We are looking for the experience of sleeping close the water to be able to fall asleep hearing the waves.

I'm trying to decide what campground to stay at when a few friends and I go camping in Waterton Lakes.... Voting Question: Roughin' it campingin western NY?
I'm looking for a place to do some "roughin' it" camping within a few hours from the Buffalo, NY area. This means I don't want to go to a place where you steer down a loop into a park and you're camping next to other people, have electricity hookups/bathrooms/other amenities. Ideally this would be a park I could hike into or canoe into and find my possess place to camp with a couple friends, have a bonfire, go fishing, etc with a couple friends. Someone please help me find this :-) Again I'm not looking for a place with numbered campsites where people tug up with their RV's and call it camping.

Resolved Question: Are there any places that clean the interior of RVs?
My husband and I were recently given a 15-year-old RV. The RV itself is in really good shape (it was only used once a year for 8 years and sat dormant in the backyard the remaining 7 years). However, I can’t receive over the fact this vehicle sat for 7 years. It is really dusty and I found a cockroach in it which totally grossed me out. We are supposed to be going on a camping trip next week and the thought of sleeping in this dusty old thing makes me itch. I have tried cleaning it…but it just doesn’t seem to receive clean enough. Has anyone ever heard of places that wash the interior of RVs? What are my options here?

Resolved Question: Do you think that most businesses should have discounts for sr. citz and military?
I work at a Lake and rv, camping park. It's a pretty chilly place. Lately I have had senior citizens ask if there are discounts and a few military people? What are you're thoughts on this? I don't think the law should demand discounts but I think it's nice when businesses have them. Then again...what is your reason for wanting or not wanting to give them discounts. Respect for the military and people fighting for us Respect for the people who lived here and cultivated our country before us.. (but some of them EXPECT a discount and act like we are volitle if we don't, but they are driving a 75 thousand dollar RV) Your thoughts will just entertain and interest me. Thanks!

Open Question: OWWW ; moderate/severe sunburn inquiry ?!?
This past weekend, I went to my cousin's RV and we swam A LOT. We put our bikinis below a pair of short shorts and a tshirt, then sprayed our legs, arms, lifted up our shirts and sprayed our bellies and backs, and then put a bit on our hands and rubbed our faces. Now, you may have realized that we were careless enough to forget our chests/shoulders, resulting in HORRIBLE suburns that are insanely painful and feel as if they are going to peel soon, and I am really dizzy/sleepy, but that might be from how busy we were. I go to a day-camp with sports and such, and we go swimming Tuesdays, so I was wondering if swimming in a public pool with a lot of chlorine and a lukewarm temperature would do any damage or cause any pain? Also, does anybody know of remedies for suburns? I've already applied a lot of aloe vera and I just made a glue consisting of milk and oatmeal that I'm going to apply soon. Please help; I am in desperate need of some !

I recently found out about an older man living in a tiny rv/trailer/camper type thing with 2-3 snakes 2 pitbulls 1 cat and an iguana. i've been fighting with myself on whether this is animal cruelty or not to have every these animals in one confined space. Should i report it or just leave it alone. This man has nobody but his animals and it would break his heart into pieces to have them taken away. They're every healthy and they every are well trained, loyal and fed right. So should i not worry about it and just let it be? or is it unfair to these animals to be living like this? even though its every they know and they seem glad? also none of the animals battle with each other and they every pretty much have a space of their possess. thanks to those of u that have answered so far and i agree i was just kinda feeling guilty and wanted to make sure i was doing the right thing and not reporting him for having every these animals in there (hes not supposed to) and so thanks you every :D u just confirmed what i had been thinking oh and i really dont appeciate being attacked for asking! i wasnt being judgemental i was making sure that these animals would be okay in this place cuz i was in there and saw how tiny it was and how little room tiny littl me had going into it much less two full grown pit bulls who cant even walk across it! also he's not an "elder man" lol when i said old i meant old compared to me i'm 18 hes in his 40's. so don't be attacking me with your answers. damn ppl if you re-read my question i dint say i was GOING TO i said i wasnt sure whether to! my goodness. Resolved Question: Was there anything particularly intriguing about your life's partner?
My tardy husband had a way with birds that was amazing. He could literally charm them out of the trees. This past Sunday (dad's Day) I was reminded of this quality of his as several folks came over to use my RV front yard space to bar-be-que. Literally hundreds of gulls landed onto the yard and quietly sat and didn't make a sound. One of the folks gift was amazed as she had never seen such a phenomena. To me, it was a pleasant reminder of every the times various birds just congregated in our various camps when my husband was about. Almost made me feel as if he was there and letting me know it was o-kay to celebrate "his day" even if he wasn't there in person....after every, I am raising his daughter to the best of my ability and don't want her to ever forget how great of a dad he really was and want to nurture that memory. So, what is/was intriguing about your spouse? Julie D, sounds like your pal just may have a Raven or a Crow as her totem. My daughter has the Raven and keeps dragons close by (thus my bearded dragon in my home) and my husband's had his Hawk, though some folks believe it was the Eagle (his Native name was Talking Bear and many believe the bear was his totem, but it's the raptors that sought him out).

Resolved Question: How can I help my claustraphobic dog?
I recently rescued a 1 yr old GSP mix from the SPCA, so I am not sure of her history. They stated she chewes and jumps..She has not chewed anything (except at our gates), she did jump, we trained her to sit and laydown. She walks on a leash 2-3 times a day, very well and loves to ride in a car. She is with me about 18 hrs a day. But when I placed her in our back yard she freaked out, chewing and pushing at the gate. We fixed the wooden gates so she can't chew at them. She starts to run around in a panic (I was w/her) and starts to pant rapidly. She has gotten a litte better over the last few days. I wanted her to snooze inside with me, when I closed my bedroom door ( I was w/her) she scratched at the door and started panting again (rapidly), she seemed like a scared little kid. I have not tried a box yet, because I don't want to stress her out. I want to take her camping with us in our RV but I am worried that she will be stressed in a tiny area .How can I help her?
